You can boost your mood as well as improve your sex life just by taking 30 minutes out of your day to get your heart pumping.
You need to keep moving if you want to cash in on its benefits but you don’t have to follow a strict program at the gym; you can get rewards from different types and levels of exercise.
If you think of exercise as a chore that you have to do, it can be more difficult to stick with it.
Try these five easy steps to get you started:
- Buddy Up
Start an exercise plan with a friend to give you the motivation you need.
A friend can provide a distraction from what you’re doing.
It will also make you less likely to miss an exercise session so as not to let them down.
- Start With Short Regular Spurts
Don’t set yourself an impossible goal that will dishearten and discourage you, start small instead.
You won’t go from a lazy lump to a marathon runner overnight but you will build up a tolerance the more you get out and get motivated.
- Just Start Walking
You don’t need expensive gym equipment or to even join a gym.
Once a day, every day, go out for a 10 minute walk. This will help form the habit of getting out and about.
After a week, break up your walk with 60 seconds of gentle jogging.
Continue in this and watch as your routine builds in line with your new endurance.
- Distract Yourself
It’s easy to spend your entire workout thinking of how much it hurts or somewhere else you would rather be.
Try downloading a playlist to your iPod or start a fun form of exercise like a dance class or yoga.
- Shake it up
Keep your routine but change the level of intensity to keep it interesting.
Try running in a new location or taking a class at the gym that you have never tried before.
Focusing on the same exercise becomes boring very quickly; it also reduces the effects on your body.
